Works in Progress

Ok! So now that the photography is in a separate place, we can talk all about art here. AWESOME!!!

I thought I might start with some updates.

I’ve been participating in the First Sundays in Corrales every month. In the warmer months I’ll be in a tent somewhere, but over the cold months, Gail at Glimmerglass Art Works has awesomely invited me into her space to share.

I have been keeping my eye on possible spaces opening up in town as well. I’d love to get my art into people’s homes, but that’s not going to happen if nobody sees it because it’s all sitting in my studio. The goal is to get some pieces into gallery spaces, a coop, or to open another space of my own. The requirement for a space of my own again is that it’s visible on Corrales Road and it’s not going to break the bank, so we’ll just put that on hold for now…because no visible spaces are open currently also because January, February, and March are sort of slow times for sales for creative types. I am watching the space availability though.

Slow times means more work time! Sort of. My kids are still young and between holidays and covid closings, they’ve been home more over the last few months. Online school has happened a bit and that always requires more supervision around here. More supervision means less art unless I bring it in the house to work. The large work isn’t very portable.

I have been working! Here are photos of a few things in progress … the elk painting is 48x48”, and is the biggest so far for me until that crow piece really gets going…that is 48x60”. The two crows and the raccoon are 12x12”. The raccoon is SO CLOSE to being done. And the smallest crow is an experiment with oils…it’s a first pass thin layer. So far, I like it.

Next time I’ll post a few finished things. The cranes are done, and just waiting on the protective layer and hanging hardware. You can see that one on Instagram already, but I’ll still post a good photo of it here when it’s ready.
